Self-examination system

Built in a broad tank, the gauge of level of a liquid (arrow) signals about quantity of a cooling liquid available in a tank.

At the cars equipped with system of self-examination, similar devices by definition of malfunction of lamps supervise serviceability of illumination of the car. The device by definition of malfunction of lamps of back dimensions of a sedan is located at the left in a luggage compartment. Approximately on the same place it is located and at the versatile person (Avant). The device by definition of malfunction of lamps of forward illumination of the car is located in the additional block of the relay under the instrument panel.

As special equipment Audi offers self-examination system. She observes for восемью functions, or operational состояними, after inclusion of ignition and after inclusion of a passing light or a brake signal. The active control is carried out and during movement. Thereby the autocheck system replaces a number of usual indicators available in a standard variant.

Indicators of the malfunctions, which board is in the middle of a combination of devices, are divided into groups danger Signal and a prevention Signal.

The malfunctions essentially influencing traffic safety or serious damages having by the consequence, are considered dangerous and consequently signals light up red colour. These are following signals:

Brake system: too low level of a brake liquid.
Pressure of engine oil: pressure of oil in an idling mode falls more low 0,3 bar, or at the frequency of rotation exceeding 2100 rpm, indicators 1,8 bar (models with 4 and 5-cylinder engines) or 2,5 bar (models with 6-cylinder engines) are not reached.
Cooling liquid: the temperature of a cooling liquid rises above 120С, or the working temperature, or too low level of cooling means is not reached.
In addition to a light signal of danger from a combination of devices the triple buzzer proceeds. Danger signals have in system a priority before safety signals. Until there is a danger signal, the warning signal chokes. It appears only after liquidation of the reason of a signal of danger.
Warning signals are highlighted on the panel by yellow colour and accompanied by a unitary buzzer. These are following signals:
Stoplight: this symbol appears right after ignition inclusions. If to press a brake pedal, the symbol disappears – provided that both brake lanterns function.
Illumination: the self-examination system cannot execute this verifying stage completely automatically. At first the driver should include a passing light. The passing light and back dimensions are simultaneously supervised. Simultaneous refusal of both incandescent filaments of a passing light or back dimensions system to show not in a condition, but generally this malfunction hardly can occur.
The storage battery: the symbol of the storage battery flashes, if storage pressure falls outside the limits standard indicators 10,6—15,6 Century
System of washing of glasses: this indicator specifies in too low level of a washing liquid in a tank.
Fuel tank: a refuelling symbol загарается if in a fuel tank there are only 12 l of gasoline.
If on a board of warning signals there are some malfunctions warning signals flash by turns, at ignition inclusion.
The signal ОК should appear, if after inclusion of ignition and pressing a brake pedal the inscription Bremslicht (stoplight) has gone out. ОК in this case means that all stages of check have been passed without messages on malfunctions. After short time the signal dies away.

Devices by definition of serviceability of lamps

These devices work on an electromagnetic principle and compare a current which is passing in conducting, for example, to the left and right passing light. If in any wire because of rupture or defect of a lamp is not present the current expense, the control device establishes a difference and informs on it to the management block. In case of malfunction of both lamps that occurs very seldom, naturally, also it is not marked differences. In this case the control device not in a condition to establish malfunction.

The help: at connection of a socket for the trailer it is necessary to watch, that connection of wires to back dimensions has been made earlier, than to the device of definition of serviceability of lamps (it is located behind at the left in a luggage compartment). If a food to take from one of back dimensions at the connected illumination of the trailer in the device of definition of serviceability of lamps not considered data on currents in a chain arrive, and he informs on defect of a lamp.

Removal of the control module

The block of management of system of autocheck is screwed on an underside of a combination of devices in one case with the block of indicators. You will find the description of removal of the module of system of autocheck in the beginning of this chapter in section "Dismantling".

Search of malfunctions of system of self-examination

The control of system of self-examination in house conditions is possible only partially: at first it is necessary to check up all gauges – if here malfunction has not been found, means, it is necessary to search for it in the module of system of self-examination.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

Gauges are checked the same as at check of indicators of the usual instrument panel.
The water level gauge in system of cooling which is established only in autocheck system, is checked as follows: if the indicator burns despite full tanks of system of cooling, it is necessary to separate tips of a cable at a tank. If now the warning signal dies away, means, the gauge is faulty.
Check of devices by definition of malfunctions of lamps as lobbies (an installation site: the additional block of the relay at the left under the instrument panel), and back (an installation site: at the left) you should give a luggage compartment to a workshop.

The independent control of the block of indicators

PERFORMANCE ORDER

To press at the included ignition and standing (or moving with the maximum speed of 5 km/h) the car the button at the left below combinations of devices.
If indicators and system are serviceable, on the panel of devices there should be by turns all signals-symbols.
Similar check is impossible, if the danger signal burns.

Additional functions on a board of system of self-examination

The prevention of speed: after record of speed of movement at present (pressing of the left button combinations of devices at desirable speed) the autocheck system specifies to time in essential excess of this speed by occurrence of a symbol and a buzzer. This record remains up to ignition deenergizing in case other speed of movement has not been written down or memory (the extreme left button to hold pressed within a second) is erased.

The indicator of radio frequencies: if the field of indicators is not occupied by the information from self-examination system on it there is data about frequency of radio stations on the autoradio tape recorders equipped in appropriate way. In addition the board of indicators informs on stereoreception or the enclosed cartridge (Tape). If radio stations transfer also signals of system of the radio data in the field of indicators there is an inscription RDS. Then on the radio display it is possible to read the radio station name.
