The water pump

The water pump (1) 4-cylinder engines is located at the left ahead on the engine. The position (2) shows a cover of the case of the thermostat, arrows specify in covers of the bearing of the water pump some of fixing bolts. |

The water pump (arrow) of the 5-cylinder engine is located on the engine ahead and resulted by a gear belt. |

The water pump (arrow) of the 6-cylinder engine is located on a forward part of the block of cylinders. It is resulted by a return surface of a gear belt. |
That the cooling liquid could circulate in cooling system, it is accelerated by the water pump. It is put in action differently, depending on engine type:
- At models with the 4-cylinder engine the pump is located in a movement direction ahead to the left of the engine and set in motion клиновым by a belt.
- At models with the 5-cylinder engine the pump is located too ahead at the left, however it is set in motion by a gear belt.
- The pump of the 6-cylinder engine is set in motion by an external lateral surface of a gear belt.
During all service life the water pump does not require service. If it becomes not tight or makes whistling sounds, it is necessary to replace it simply as it is not subject to repair.
Removal of the water pump
It is required to you or a new sealing lining (4 and 6-cylinder engines) or a new sealing ring (the 5-cylinder engine).
The owner of the car with the 4-cylinder engine, the buying new water pump, receives the pump in gathering with the case (a back part of the case with the pump). Pumps for the 5-cylinder engine can be distinguished on beaten out number 5 in the field of a sealing lining of a flange – of 5 mm should be completed by a sealing ring with an allowance in diameter.

- At work with the 4-cylinder engine at first to remove wedge a belt.
- To remove a protective casing of a gear belt (the head Engines).
- To weaken in total seven screws between the forward case of the bearing and the case of the water pump. The pump wheel is located in the bearing case.
- To replace a lining between the case of the bearing and the case of the water pump.
- In a case when the case of the water pump entirely (spare part application) acts in film, at installation as the sealing lining between the case and the block of cylinders should be replaced.
- To twirl the case of the bearing the moment 10 Nm, to tighten tightening bolts of a pulley клиноременной transfers by the moment 25 Nm.
- At work with the 5-cylinder engine it is impossible to name removal of the water pump simple work:
- At first it is necessary to remove the pump of the amplifier of a steering together with клиновым a belt.
- To remove a protective casing of a gear belt (the head Engines).
- To weaken a gear belt and to remove it from a gear wheel of the water pump.
- To turn out tightening bolts of the water pump, to remove the pump.
- To establish the new pump with a new sealing ring.
- To tighten tightening bolts of the water pump the moment 20 Nm.
- To put on a gear belt, it is obligatory to check phases timing (the head Engines).
- To pull a gear belt.
- Other assemblage passes without problems.
- At work with the 6-cylinder engine removal of the water pump by own forces again rests against removal of a gear belt.
- To remove полиwedge a belt (the head the Generator).
- To remove a gear belt (the head Engines).
- To weaken nine bolts in front on the case of the water pump, to remove the case
- At installation to replace a sealing lining, to tighten bolts for two calling, last the moment 10 Nm.
- To put on a gear belt, it is obligatory to check up phases timing (the head Engines).
